Weightless

We live in such an idyllic neighbourhood.

Been back from Manila for a few days now. There will be photos from there at some point, when film gets developed. I found out that I would have made a fairly poor photojournalist: I visited one of Manila’s shanty town areas, where the houses are made of whatever bits of metal and wood people found lying around, and where they only got tap water installed a few months ago. Despite others suggesting I should take pictures, I just didn’t think it was appropriate, being a tourist in such a situation. It’s not that the place was miserable – the people were very friendly and reasonably happy with their lives, it just didn’t seem right to take photos.

Oh, and it was my birthday just after I got back, so that was good.
